Scooter rider CJ soars up the leaderboards
Stunt scooter rider CJ has been making a name for himself with his jaw-dropping tricks and inspirational resolve. After taking part in multiple competitions, he’s successfully imposed himself as one of the best junior riders around… and he’s not even 10.
Scoot rider CJ has shown more commitment than most adults we know.
After meeting a previous world champion when he was four, CJ caught the scooting bug and his hobby soon snowballed from there.
In the five years since then, he’s taught himself to scoot by watching endless videos online, observing more experienced riders and practising for up to eight hours a day at the skatepark. His dream? To be a professional scooter rider.
As a single parent working part-time to be more available to her son, CJ’s mum reached out to The Salford Trust to see if we could contribute any funding that would help him reach his dreams. Seeing his determination for ourselves, we were more than happy to pay for 1:1 lessons that would provide CJ with targeted support tailored to his needs. We’ve also helped him with competition expenses, ensuring he gets his name out there and accumulates as much experience as he can.
Now at the ripe age of nine, CJ has established himself as one of the top junior stunt scooter riders in the UK!
“Cody has been supported by The Salford Trust for the last year, and it’s been incredibly beneficial! They have funded 1-2-1 coaching which has allowed for his skills and talent to be finely tuned. I have seen him progress so much as a result of this!”

CJ’s scoot riding achievements
CJ has travelled to numerous competitions over the last few years, competing alongside some incredibly talented young people.
Rather than be daunted by this, CJ takes it in his stride.
In 2024 alone, the nine-year-old took 1st place at The Ramp Yard Belfast's 8-and-under Novice category, came 2nd at The Scootish Open in Dumbarton, and won both the Best Trick and the 12-and-under category at the Gooden Summer Scootfest in Eastbourne.
CJ also came 2nd in the Intermediate 8-and-under category at the ScootGB finals in October - that’s the UK championships for scoot riding!
But the biggie came in April 2025…
We funded CJ to take part in King of Germany: an international stunt scooter competition hosted in Germany.
He won the Rookies category!
It was a massive achievement for the young rider, who spent many hours training at the skate park for this moment.
What’s next?
As non-traditional sports like sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing have been added to the Olympic Games in recent years, CJ is not alone in hoping that stunt scooter riding will be introduced in the not-too-distant future!
With this, CJ dreams of being able to compete professionally and would love to be sponsored by a big scooting brand.
At the rate he’s going, we're confident he can achieve this!
“CJ has taken part in a number of competitions over the last year, and with each one I have seen his confidence grow! As hopes for the sport to feature in the Olympics increase, he dreams of being able to compete professionally.”
